Stunning end to the day a Lake Willoughby in Westmore,VT captured from “Greg’s Beach” my families beach property.

Lake Willoughby located in the awe-inspiring Northeast Kingdom area of Vermont, this 5 mile long glacial lake was formed over 12,000 years ago, nicknamed the “Lucerne of America” because its dramatic, fjord-like setting between steep granite mountains—Mount Pisgah and Mount Hor at the Southend of the lake, which resembles the scenic landscape of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.

At over 300 feet deep, this clear, cold water lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, and kayaking.  Willoughby home to many species of fish,  rainbow trout (wild and stocked), lake trout, landlocked Atlantic salmon (mainly stocked), rainbow smelt, burbot, yellow perch, longnose sucker, white sucker, lake chub, common shiner, and round whitefish.    Many species of birds can also be found near Willoughby, such as the Common Loon, Wood Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Purple Finch, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, White-throated Sparrow, and Black-capped Chickadee
